The CYC flotilla journeyed around the corner to Tiburon Yacht Club on June 15 for the annual Friendship Regatta. Our hosts put on an excellent event with a course that crisscrossed the north bay and gave us some experience racing in unfamiliar waters. With the wind building to 20 Knots plus, racers had an exhilarating day, after which our hosts offered hearty snacks and cocktails along with prizes for the top 7 finishers. CYC trophy winners were Kurt Mangdanz on Amandla in 6th and Jim Erskine on Kira in 3rd out of the 17 boat fleet, while TYC's Miramar, a Frers 41, did a horizon job on the fleet to capture top honors. Tiburon easily won the overall contest, leaving Corinthians to begin plotting strategy for next year when the contest returns to our home waters.

Not that we are rooting for the "other guys" or anything, but we're so enthused by the upcoming challenger series that we just had to celebrate. July 27, we'll be hosting a Louis Vuitton Challengers' Cup Gala. This Summer Ball will feature representatives from the Challenger nations, regional foods, wines, and a smashing band. All Corinthians are invited to attend! Ticket sales are going briskly so read about it and reserve at the office today!
Full StoryThe second race day in the series offered up plenty of wind and beautiful weather for Corinthian skippers. In the first race, PRO Michael Gornet sent competitors out to Little Harding where they were greeted with winds of 20+ knots, then down to a leeward mark in Keil Cove and back to finish in front of the club. For the second race the fleet took on a double sausage with the windward mark off Belvedere Point.
