Out of simple respect for the land and sea, CYC shares a long tradition of what we now call "clean" and "green" resource management with many local organizations. From our biodegradable drink cups, to our long-standing participation in converting used cooking oil to biodiesel, to our heating upgrade to a high-efficiency system, our club has generally found the effective and efficient path to be the green one as well.
Helping to formalize our activities, and help promote responsible behavior, we've signed up with "Sailors for the Sea" to certify some of our races.
Here is the Clean Regattas Pledge:
"We pledge our commitment to clean waters and shores by participating in Sailors for the Sea's Clean Regattas program. We vow to fulfill, and encourage others to fulfill, the goals and requirements of Clean Regattas as set forth by Sailors for the Sea, and to work to protect and restore our waters for the use and enjoyment of current and future generations."
