Speaker Series - Americas Cup; the New Reality
John Craig
Principal Race Officer
America’s Cup Race Management
Hailing from Canada and now a resident of San Francisco, John is responsible for conducting the races of the America's Cup World Series, the Louis Vuitton Cup - America’s Cup Challenger Series, and the America's Cup Finals.
A board member of US Sailing, Craig had been the race manager at San Francisco's St. Francis Yacht Club for over 10 years, running everything from Optimist regattas to World Championships for the Star and Melges 32 class. He has run approximately 300 regattas on San Francisco Bay. Before St. Francis Yacht Club, John was the coach of the Canadian Olympic team for approximately 10 years and has worked closely with many of the top sailors in the world throughout his career. This has given him a unique perspective on how to engage sailors and non-sailors as well as how to increase youth involvement.
The America’s Cup has been in the news a lot in the last few months with plenty of speculation about how the remainder of the series might be affected. John will debunk rumors and explain “The New Reality” of the America’s Cup. He will also answer questions from the audience. Please join us for this rare opportunity.
